Rob Mills

Deputy Managing Partner

As one of the co-founders of Clearbell I am proud to say that the culture of the firm and its people are the things I like most about working here. We work hard but we know how to enjoy ourselves – the annual Christmas Party is always a highlight.

As Deputy Managing Partner I have specific responsibility for acquisitions, platform businesses and financial analysis and modelling. I am also a member of the Investment Committee and I am Clearbell’s Data Compliance Officer.

With over 15 years’ experience in the real estate industry, I have managed the acquisition, asset management and sale of about £2.2 billion of UK real estate. Significant investments include the Penang budget hotel platform, Silverstone mezzanine and Monza stretch senior debt platforms, Buckingham Gate and the Sloane Club.

I joined Mountgrange Investment Management LLP in 2007. Before that, I worked as an investment professional from 2002 to 2007 in the London office of JER Partners (JER), a fully-integrated private equity and real estate investment management company, where I designed and implemented JER’s standard UK underwriting and financial model.

I trained as an accountant with KPMG from 1998 to 2002 and have been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales since 2001. At KPMG, I became a financial modelling specialist, designing in-house tools to help develop KPMG’s UK financial modelling strategy.

My original training was as an oboist at Manchester’s conservatoire of classical music, gaining a BMus (Hons) from Manchester University.

Outside work I enjoy gardening, sailing and tennis, but I am also passionate about my work with a homeless charity called Restart. Helping homeless people with their mental health issues and enabling them to rebuild their lives is one way of giving back. Oh, and I still play the oboe.
